NEWSLETTER APRIL 2024
THE PATTESON PARISH ROOM & CLUB APRIL 2024 NEWSLETTER www.pattesonclub.weebly.com Dear Patteson Club member, An important notice to start with: THE PATTESON CLUB IS CLOSED TO MEMBERS ON THURSDAY 2nd MAY Thursday 2nd May is Election Day and the Patteson Club is booked all day as a polling station. As the Council have exclusive use of the whole building and the car park, there will be no access to play bowls or snooker on that day. The 57 people who attended the Quiz & Chips evening in March enjoyed not only the excellent range of questions set by Tracy and Adam Gibson but also the food and fun atmosphere. We will be holding another such evening in November. AFTERNOON TEA PARTY – SUNDAY 9th JUNE AT 3.30PM Tickets, at a cost of £12 per person, are now available from Jill Harris on 01508 578900. To ensure a comfortable ambience, there will be a maximum of 40 tickets available on a first come first served basis with members given priority. The closing date for ordering and paying for tickets is Monday 3rd June. Jack and Ann Norton will again be presenting a splendid array of party food. You are welcome to bring your own food if you have dietary requirements. SOCIAL NIGHTS Our social club nights on the first Friday of every month remain popular. Members can chat whilst having a drink from the bar or playing cards, board games, dominoes, or darts. The next club nights will take place on 3rd May and 7th June. Doors open at 7.30pm; the bar is open and there is no entry charge. Given the popularity of the social club nights, the Committee is looking to see to what extent members would support additional one-off themed events. The first such event is a Whist Drive which will be held on Friday 14th June. Doors open at 7.15pm for a prompt 7.30pm start. Entry will be £2 per player, payable at the door, to go towards prizes. The bar will, of course, be open. Please also note your diary that the second of these events will be a Folk Music night at 7.30pm on Friday 12th July. Our own Martin McDonnell will be bringing some friends to perform for us. I will provide more details in my next newsletter. SNOOKER Steve Douglas’s snooker report:
BOWLS The outdoor bowling season is now under way. You can see from this photo that there’s a new entrance for bowlers to a bowling green that looks in excellent condition. Details of all the roll-ups, matches and tournaments for the coming season have been sent to bowling members. Mixed roll-ups take place on Wednesdays (2pm), Thursdays (5.30pm) and Sundays (2pm). All bowling members can now also play on Tuesday afternoons (2pm) with all four rinks available on a bookable rather than roll-up basis.
